My take on prenatal yoga

The journey through pregnancy is a time of unique physical, mental + spiritual transformation. A baby is born and so is a mother. Prenatal yoga classes are created with all of that in mind. They are specifically for you, mama. This style of yoga helps encourage a sense of peace, empowerment and deepen the connection a woman has with her own body and her growing baby.

It’s not a “regular” yoga class with modifications. Asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing techniques) are intentionally chosen to support the obvious physical changes + the more subtle internal changes of an expectant mama.

You’ve heard the saying “It takes a village.” Prenatal classes create a sense of community – a safe space for mothers to connect and share thoughts, feelings and experiences while being supported in their journey.

SOME OF THE BENEFITS:

· Increased energy

· Increased strength + stamina

· Better body awareness

· Deeper connection to yourself and with your baby

· Relieves anxiety + stress

· Quiets the mind

· Empowerment

· Provides relief from common aches and pains of pregnancy

WHAT TO EXPECT:

You can expect a blend of strengthening, stretching, and nourishing your body.

Each class begins with a quick check in to see how you are feeling or share any concerns.

Class moves through gentle stretching, seated and standing postures – all of which are selected specifically to help your pregnant body find relief from common discomforts during pregnancy. You will explore breathing techniques and relaxation/meditations that can help ease the anxiety of labor + delivery. You’ll end with a restorative savasana.

Prenatal yoga classes are designed to encourage a deeper connection to your own body and to your baby.

Birth is spiritual. Birth is primal. Tap into your inner strength and confidence. Connect to your natural instincts. You are a goddess, mama.
